Dearing opened his Dearing's Chic-A-Rib Room at Superior Avenue and East 110th Street in 1960. Over the next two-plus decades, he changed its name repeatedly — Dearing's Living Room Lounge, Mark I Lounge, Second Choice, and finally Candlelight Room.
