This color postcard shows that Dearing's operated a white-tablecloth fine dining establishment. The painting on the far wall was the work of Charles Sallee, one of the first Black students to attend the Cleveland School of Art (later CIA) in the 1930s. Sallee built a livelihood from designing restaurant interiors. Dearing hired him for this purpose for at least two of his restaurants, and Sallee designed numerous others throughout Cedar-Central, Fairfax, and Glenville. | Creator: Liberty Adv.
