Friedolin Hirz, nicknamed "Fred," was a merchant tailor who, for many years, operated a retail business out of a two-story building on the north side of Lorain Avenue, just west of West 45th Street. When this drawing of that building was made for the 1874 Atlas of Cuyahoga County, he and his family were living in the apartment above his store. Hirz was born in Germany in 1843 and died in Cleveland in 1902. He is among the many German immigrants who are buried at St. Mary Cemetery. | Source: Cleveland Public Library, Map CollectionDownload Original File
